[Performance February Half Term 2015]
We would like to invite any children, young people and adults to join in the chorus for the special Gala Evening to celebrate 21 years of productions in Alresford.
We will be having 4 rehearsals - Sun 21st Sept 2-5pm / Tues 23 Sept 6-7.30pm / Tues 30 Sept 7-8.30pm / Sun 5 Oct 2-5pm. We will timetable them soon for who is needed when but please put the dates in your diary.
As you can see from the song list there is not a lot to learn and we will be coming up from the tables to the stage to sing. Anyone who is taking part will need to book a table with families or friends. Another attachment gives details of how to book.
Also you are welcome to come and not take part and be the audience.
Looking forward to seeing you all at our special celebration.
Please contact me asap if you would like to take part or book a table. We would also appreciate some help to set up at Perins on 11th Oct.
In February half term ACTS will be performing Half a Sixpence! It was first produced in London's West End in 1963.
Kipps and Ann were childhood friends. When they were parted as children, Kipps cut a sixpence in half and told Ann to look at it whenever she missed him. Years later, Kipps is working as an apprentice in a draper’s shop in Folkestone. Ann arrives in the town, looking for him. They meet and re-kindle their childhood friendship. Then everything changes. Kipps meets Chitterlow – an eccentric actor/playwright – and finds out that he has inherited a fortune. He leaves the shop and is drawn into high society. He meets and falls in love with Helen Walsingham. They get engaged but Ann finds out before Kipps has a chance to tell her. She tells him that she never wants to see him again and is furious and upset at how he has treated her. But Kipps isn’t happy in high society and with the changes it forces upon him. After a showdown with Helen’s tyrannical mother, Mrs Walsingham, he calls off the engagement with Helen, realising it is Ann he loves, and he begs Ann to take him back. She does and they marry and start a new life with Kipps’ fortune. But all is not well. Ann just wants a simple life without all the trappings that Kipps’ money has brought with it. The money just causes rows between them. It looks as though their marriage won’t survive until Kipps learns that his financial adviser, Helen’s brother, has speculated all his money away and there is nothing left. Kipps and Ann are reconciled, realising that all that matters is that they have each other. In a surprising twist, Kipps comes into money again, but this time he realises that love is more important and has been all along.

Yet another successful musical production for ACTS. This time we performed on the stage only with quite a simple yet amazingly affective set. A brilliant back drop was painted which depicted a wonderful sunny farming scene, unlike the weather that we have been experiencing of late. We had some great audiences who appreciated all the hard work put in by cast, dancers, crew, technical team & musicians. There were some outstanding performances & it was lovely to see some new faces taking on some of the leading roles as well as supporting roles in the chorus. AND to top it all, for those of you who didn’t come to see it, we had a real live pony, yes a real live pony, who was a star negotiating steps to get on stage & of course taking the limelight at the end. The western style saloon was also a big success & helped to create a more relaxed atmosphere.
Thank you to everyone involved.
Hello to all members of ACTS,
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are looking forward to an exciting new year with everything that it will have to offer.
It's that time again, a whole year has passed & it's time to renew your ACTS subscription. You can do this in a variety of ways, have a look at our ACTS website to get all the details & remember that it's cheaper to stay a member from year to year than it is to rejoin when you think you might like to be in one of our productions.
As you know we are doing Oklahoma this February (a year earlier than usual), but as far as I'm aware, this doesn't mean that we won't be doing a production with children the following February. So if you think you'd like to be involved in the next production make sure you carry on your subscription.
The renewal date is 1st January but we always give you extra time as it's the first day of the new year so just try to remember to do it within the next couple of weeks.
If you no longer want to be a member I would be very grateful if you could let me know & then I won't keep pestering you with emails.
Happy New Year
As you know we are putting on our production of Oklahoma in February half term. Rehearsals are well under way & the production looks like another success for the society. We are now thinking ahead for the actual week of the performances & therefore need YOUR HELP!!
We will need help setting up for the show from 9am on 15th Feb & clearing up from 9am on 23rd Feb. For more info & details please contact me explaining how you are happy to help, anything from putting together the set to making teas & coffees, every little bit of help is useful.
If your not sure how you can help, don't worry we can always find something for you to do, remember many hands make light work so please help us to make sure this is another great show.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
